A NETGEAR wireless access point (AP) has a default IP address, which is 192.168.0.100. If the AP has never been connected to a network, or you reset the AP to factory default settings, the AP functions with its default IP address.
By default, the AP also functions as a DHCP client so that the AP is automatically assigned an IP address by a DHCP server in your network. (Any router can function as a DHCP server and usually does.)
If you do not know the IP address that was assigned to the AP, use one of the following methods to find the IP address of your AP. The methods that are available depend on the model AP. Some methods are available for all APs, including the WBE700 series, WAX600 series, WAC500 series, WAX200 series, and WAC100 series APs. (See the list of models to which this article applies.)
Methods available for all NETGEAR APs
Use the automatic device detection of a Windows-based computer:
- Launch File Explorer (or Windows Explorer).
- Select Network from the AP device icon.
- Select Properties.
The AP IP address displays.
Use the NETGEAR Insight mobile app:
- Connect your mobile device to a WiFi network on the AP.
- Launch the NETGEAR Insight mobile app.
- Tap LOG IN.
The IP address of the AP displays in the device list.
Access the router or DHCP server in your network:
Access the DHCP server information of your existing router, modem (if the modem functions as a DHCP server), or dedicated DHCP server to see the devices that are connected to it, including the AP.
The IP address that is assigned to the AP is listed.
Use a third-party IP scanner:
Use an IP scanner application (they are available free of charge on the Internet) in the network of your existing router.
The IP scanner results include the IP address that is assigned to the AP.
Additional methods for the WAX220, WAX218, WAX214(v2), and WAX210 APs Only
Connect your computer or mobile device over WiFi to the default management SSID:
- Depending on your model, connect to the management SSID (WiFi network), which does not change:
- WAX220XXXXXX-CONFIG-ONLY
- WAX218XXXXXX-CONFIG-ONLY
- WAX214XXXXXX-CONFIG-ONLY
- WAX210XXXXXX-CONFIG-ONLY
XXXXXX is the last six hexadecimal digits of the AP’s MAC address. (The management WiFi network is on the product label, usually on the bottom of the AP.)
- Type aplogin.com into your web browser's address bar.

The Login page displays. - Enter your AP login password and click the LOGIN button.
- The Dashboard page displays. In the LAN Information - IPv4 section, the IP Address field displays the IP address that is assigned to the AP.
Additional methods for the WAX206, WAX204, WAX202, and WAC124 APs
Connect over WiFi to the AP and use routerlogin.com to log in:
- Connect a computer or mobile device over WiFi to the AP.
- Open a web browser and type routerlogin.com or http://www.routerlogin.net into your web browser's address bar.
- If you get a security message, proceed or add an exception. For more information, see What do I do if I my browser displays a security message?
The Login page displays. - Click the Login button.
The NETGEAR Account Login page displays. - Enter your registered email address and password and click the LOG IN button.
The BASIC Home page displays. - Select ADVANCED from the menu bar.
The ADVANCED Home page displays. - In the LAN Port pane, click the Connection Status button.
The IP Address field displays the IP address that is assigned to the AP.
Connect directly over WiFi and ping the AP:
If you already completed the initial log-in, temporarily connect a mobile device over WiFi to the AP and send a ping to http://www.routerlogin.net.
The steps that you follow to send a ping vary by mobile device. On your mobile device, the field with the ping results displays the IP address that is assigned to the AP.
Additional methods for the WAC104 AP Only
Connect over WiFi to the AP and use aplogin.com to log in:
- Connect a computer or mobile device over WiFi to the AP.
- Open a web browser and type aplogin.com or http://www.aplogin.net into your web browser's address bar.

The Login page displays. - Enter your local device password and click the Login button.
The Home page displays.
In the IP Settings section, the IP Address field displays the IP address that is assigned to the AP.
Connect directly over WiFi and ping the AP:
If you already completed the initial log-in, temporarily connect a mobile device over WiFi to the AP and send a ping to https://www.aplogin.net.
The steps that you follow to send a ping vary by mobile device. On your mobile device, the field with the ping results displays the IP address that is assigned to the AP.
