You can use the 2.4 GHz management SSID only to access the local browser user interface (UI) of the WAX214 or WAX218 access point from a WiFi device to manage your SSID passphrase.
Note: the management SSID will turn off after 15 minutes of being idle and if no wireless client is connected to it. A reboot is required to broadcast the management SSID again.
The name of the management SSID depends on the model and the MAC address. In the following examples, XXXXXX represents the last six digits of the MAC address of the LAN interface of the access point:
- WAX214: WAX214XXXXXX-CONFIG-ONLY
- WAX218: WAX218XXXXXX-CONFIG-ONLY
The default WiFi passphrase for the management SSID is printed on the access point label. We recommend that you change this WiFi passphrase.
To change the SSID passphrase on your WAX214 or WAX218 access point:
- Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is directly connected over WiFi to the access point or connected via Ethernet to the access point.
- If you are directly connected to the CONFIG-ONLY SSID, enter https://www.aplogin.net.
Note: If you are not connected to the “CONFIG-ONLY” SSID, enter the IP address that is assigned to the access point. A login window displays. - Enter the access point's local device password and click the Login button.
Note: The local device password is the one that you specified. The password is case-sensitive.
The Device Status page displays. - Under Network, select Wireless.
The Wireless Settings page displays. - In the Wireless Settings Access Point section, locate the SSID. Next to the SSID, select Edit.
- In the Wireless Security field, enter your new passphrase.
Note: The length of the passphrase must be from 8 to 63 characters. - Click the Save button.
Your settings are saved but not yet applied.
A pop-up window displays. The window shows the number of changes to be applied. - In the pop-up window, click the Apply button.
Your changes are applied.
Note: If the WiFi link must be reestablished, the page displays the number of seconds before the access point is back online.
