Depending on which NETGEAR Smart Switch you have, your switch comes with either one multi-function Reset button or one Factory Default button and one Reset button. For a switch with a single button, you can factory reset or restart your switch by pressing the button for a specific time. For a switch with two buttons, you can factory reset or restart your switch by pressing the correct button.
A Smart Switch with one multi-function Reset button lets you perform the following tasks:
- Restart the switch: When you press the Reset button for less than five seconds, your switch reboots and all saved settings are retained.
Before you press the Reset button to restart the switch, we recommend that you save your switch settings.
- Reset the switch to factory default settings but maintain the registration status: When you press the Reset button for more than five seconds but less than ten seconds, all settings are erased and the switch restarts with factory default settings. The NETGEAR registration status is maintained and not reset.
- Reset the switch to factory default settings and reset the registration status: When you press the Reset button for more than ten seconds, all settings are erased, the switch restarts with factory default settings, and the NETGEAR registration status is reset. You must re-register the switch with NETGEAR.
A Smart Switch with one Factory Default button and one Reset button lets you perform the following tasks:
- Restart the switch: When you press the Reset button for longer than one second, your switch reboots and all saved settings are retained.
Before you press the Reset button to restart the switch, we recommend that you save your switch settings.
- Reset the switch to factory default settings but maintain the registration status: When you press the Factory Default button for more than five seconds but less than ten seconds, all settings are erased and the switch restarts with factory default settings. The NETGEAR registration status is maintained and not reset.
- Reset the switch to factory default settings and reset the registration status: When you press the Factory Default button for more than ten seconds, all settings are erased, the switch restarts with factory default settings, and the NETGEAR registration status is reset. You must re-register the switch with NETGEAR.
