The 6 GHz wireless band was introduced with the WiFi 6E standard and is exclusive to devices that support WiFi 6E and newer standards, including WiFi 7 and successive future WiFi versions. 6 GHz WiFi is essentially an optimized network where devices can transmit data faster than ever.
The 6 GHz band is new and much larger than existing 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The 6 GHz band is also exclusive to WiFi devices with 6 GHz capabilities. An empty band with a very large spectrum capacity means 6 GHz devices can take full advantage of the available bandwidth, and don’t have to compete with traffic from other devices or networks.
Additionally, WPA3 security is mandatory for all Wi-Fi 6 Certified devices operating in 6 GHz. WPA3 is the latest Wi-Fi Alliance security certification, providing the latest in security and authentication protocols. As a result, 6 GHz WiFi traffic is more secure than ever and 6 GHz networks are harder to hack.
