A ping test is a network administration tool used to test connectivity on an Internet Protocol (IP) network. It measures how long it takes for packets to go round trip from your device to the target IP address or host. With your Insight Cloud Portal account, you can perform a ping test at both the network level and the device level.
To run a ping test in Insight Cloud Portal at the device level:
- Log in to the Insight Cloud Portal.
- If you have an Insight Pro account, select an organization.
- Select a location.
- Select Device.
- Double-click your device.
- Select Troubleshoot > Ping Test.
- In the IP Address or Hostname field, enter your information.
Enter the IP address or Hostname of the station you want to test the connectivity.
- To run your ping test with the default settings, select Run Test.
- To perform your ping test with customized settings:
- Select Advanced Settings.
- In the Ping Count field, enter an amount.
- In the Packet Size field, enter the amount of bytes.
- In the Ping Timeout field, enter an amount in seconds.
- In the Ping Interval field, enter an amount in seconds.
- Select Run Test.
Test in Progress displays.
After a few seconds, your ping test results display.
- Log in to the Insight Cloud Portal.
- If you have an Insight Pro account, select an organization.
- Select a location.
- Select Troubleshoot.
- To troubleshoot one device, check the box next to your device.
- To troubleshoot your devices in bulk, check the box next to Device Information.
- Select Run Test.
A Choose Troubleshooting Options page displays.
- Select Ping Test > Test Now.
- In the IP Address or Hostname field, enter your information.
Enter the IP address or Hostname of the station you want to test the connectivity.
- To run your ping test with the default settings, select Run Test.
- To perform your ping test with customized settings:
- Select Advanced Settings.
- In the Ping Count field, enter an amount.
- In the Packet Size field, enter the amount of bytes.
- In the Ping Timeout field, enter an amount in seconds.
- In the Ping Interval field, enter an amount in seconds.
- Select Run Test.
In Progress displays next to your device.
After a few seconds, your multiple devices display Success.
- To view test results, click Success next to your device.
