Your Nighthawk 5G Mobile Router and its battery might feel warm while it is in use. If your device starts to heat, two indicators display, depending on the temperature of the mobile router. The first indicator is an icon of a battery with heat waves on the top right of the LCD display. If the temperature continues to rise, a second indicator is words to alert you that battery charging stopped. Battery charging resumes after the device cools to a preset level. These symptoms are normal and occur depending on the load your device is under.
Use the following suggestions to prolong battery life and reduce the chance of your mobile router becoming too warm:
- If you use your mobile router as a fixed wireless router, remove the battery and power the mobile router using the provided Quick Charge power adapter. This charging method prolongs battery life by reducing battery heating.
- If your device is plugged in and on continuously, remove the battery and power the mobile router using the provided powered adapter.
- Unplug the charger when your mobile router battery is fully charged.
- Charge your mobile router’s battery when your device is not under heavy usage.
- Do not keep or charge your mobile router in direct sunlight, near a window, or in a vehicle.
- Keep your mobile router far away from any sources of heat.
- Keep your mobile router in a properly ventilated area.
- Avoid using your device while it is inside a briefcase, computer bag, a backpack.
- Replace your mobile router’s battery when it is old. Signs that your battery is old include a shorter battery life and needing to charge more often.
