How can I hide the power cable for my Meural Canvas?

The Meural Canvas is an elegant way to display your art and photos. Some users like to enhance that elegance by hiding the power cable from view. Beyond simply positioning your Canvas's power cable behind plants or furniture, you can also try these methods to hide your Canvas's power cable.

Use a cable raceway

A cable raceway is a plastic sheath used to route wires along walls.

Tips:

  • Clean the surface of your wall before adhering the cable raceway to it.
  • Note that many adhesive cable raceways are not recommended for use on textured surfaces.
  • If you must cut your cable raceway to size, use a PVC cutter for a clean cut.
  • Use a separate cable raceway for each power cable.

Use an in-wall cable management kit to hide your cable behind your wall.

An in-wall cable management kit uses a building code-compliant power cable that runs behind your wall and ends in a recessed plug that you then connect to your power outlet with a short extension cord.

This method requires you to cut at least two holes in your wall.

Warning:
  • Do not use non-building-safe power cables behind your wall. This includes the Meural Canvas power cable. These cables aren't code-compliant and can be a fire hazard. Use only cables that come with a code-compliant in-wall cable management kit.
  • Do not run power cables through a passthrough port (the slot typically used for Ethernet, HDMI, or audio cables). This is a code violation and fire hazard.
  • Follow all safety instructions that come with your installation kit and consult with a certified electrician prior to installation.

Tips:

  • You must use an in-wall cable management kit with a wall grommet at least 3 ½-inches wide to fit the Meural power adapter.
  • Check for studs behind your wall before installing your in-wall power cable management kit. Most in-wall kits do not work if a stud is in the way.
  • Align your wall grommets vertically with one another so that they are not installed on opposite sides of a stud.
  • If you have a Swivel Mount, position the top wall grommet below it so that the wall grommet does not interfere with mounting.
  • Position the bottom wall grommet 6-12 inches away from a power outlet, preferably behind furniture to hide the extension cord.
