You can configure your NETGEAR AirBridge as a master in a point-to-point or point to-multipoint setup. When configuring your AirBridge as a master, install the master at a main site to provide network and Internet connectivity to one or more satellites at the detached site where no wired infrastructure is available. This setup requires a line of sight between the main site and each detached site.
Before you can configure your AirBridge as a master, you need to first configure the settings in the Day Zero Easy Setup. For more information, see How do I set up my NETGEAR AirBridge using the local browser user interface?.
- Open a web browser that is connected to the same network as your AirBridge.
- Enter the IP address that is assigned to the AirBridge.
When the AirBridge is not connected to a network with a DHCP server, the default IP address of the AirBridge is 192.168.0.100.
A login page displays.
- Enter the AirBridge username.
The username is admin.
- Enter the local device password.
This password is the one that you chose when you first logged in.
If you previously managed the AirBridge through the NETGEAR Insight app or Insight Cloud portal, enter the Insight network password for the Insight network location to which the AirBridge was assigned.
- Under Network, select Wireless.
- From the Operation Mode menu, select AirBridge Master.
- Select the AirBridge Enable button.
By default, AirBridge mode is enabled, which is the setting that we recommend for a master-to satellite setup. Depending on your network situation and your WiFi requirements, you can disable the AirBridge mode. For more information, see When should I disable AirBridge mode?.
If the AirBridge mode is enabled, a single 5 GHz SSID is supported. If the AirBridge mode is disabled, four 5 GHz SSIDs are available for a master.
- Under the Wireless Settings - 5G field or Wireless Settings - Access Point field,
depending on whether the AirBridge mode is enabled, do one of the following:
- To change the default 5 GHz SSID or another previously enabled 5 GHz SSID, click theEdit button for the 5 GHz SSID.
- To enable and configure a new 5 GHz SSID, select the Enable
check box for a disabled 5 GHz SSID.
- Click the Edit button for the 5 GHz SSID.
A new page opens.
- Click the Edit button for the 5 GHz SSID.
- Under the Wireless Setting - AirBridge Access Point 5GHz (this is the section name for
a master), configure the SSID settings.

- Click Save.
Your settings are saved to be applied later and the page closes. The Wireless Settings page displays again.
A pop-up window opens. The window shows the number of changes to be applied. Continue to make changes.
- In the Distance field, enter the approximate distance in kilometers between the AirBridge master and AirBridge satellite.
- Click Save.
For information about optional advanced settings that display on the page, such as changing the Auto RF mode (so that you can set a specific transmission power), channel HT mode, channel, bit rate, and AP time slot, see your user manual.
A pop-up window opens. The window shows the number of changes to be applied. You can make more changes or apply the changes now.
- To apply the changes now, click Apply.
