When you configure your NETGEAR AirBridge access point at a main site, you provide network and Internet connectivity to individual WiFi clients, client bridges, other access points that extend the WiFi network, or a combination of these. Your AirBridge access point can support up to eight 5 GHz SSIDs. This setup does not require a line of sight between the access point and the WiFi clients, client bridge, or other access point. The powerful antenna of the AirBridge allows for an extended WiFi range.

Before you can configure your AirBridge as an access point, you must first configure your AirBridge in the Day Zero Easy Setup. For more information, see How do I set Day Zero Easy Setup settings for my NETGEAR AirBridge?

To configure your AirBridge as an access point:
  1. Launch a web browser on a computer that is connected to the same network as the AirBridge or connected directly to the AirBridge with an Ethernet cable.
  2. Enter the IP address of your AirBridge.

    The login page displays.

  3. Enter the AirBridge user name and local device password.

    The user name is admin and the local device password is the one that you created the first time you logged in.

    If you previously managed the AirBridge through the NETGEAR Insight app or Insight Cloud portal, enter the Insight network password for the Airbridge's Insight location instead of the device password.The Device Status page displays.

  4. Under Network, select Wireless.
  5. From the Operation Mode menu, select Access Point.
  6. To limit the number of clients that can connect to the AirBridge, keep Clients Limits enabled.
  7. In the Client Limits field, enter the maximum number of WiFi clients.

    By default, the limit is 32 clients. You can specify a lower or higher number WiFi clients. The range is from 1 to 127. The maximum number applies to all clients connected to all 5 GHz SSIDs on the AirBridge. You can disable client limits entirely by selecting the Clients Limits Disable check box.

  8. Under AP Detection, click Scan.

    This scans for neighboring access points.

  9. In the Distance field, enter the approximate distance in kilometers from the AirBridge access point to most WiFi devices.
  10. In the Wireless Settings- Access Point section, do one of the following:
    1. To change the default 5 GHz SSID or another previously enabled 5G SSID, click Edit.
    2. To enable and configure a new 5 GHz SSID, select Enabled.
    3. Click Edit for the 5 GHz SSID.
  11. Configure the 5 GHz SSID settings.

  12. Click Save.

    Your settings are saved to be applied later. The page closes. The Wireless Settings page displays again.

    A pop-up window opens showing the number of changes to be applied. You can make more changes ( including on other pages) or apply the changes now.

  13. To enable the guest network on an SSID, in the Wireless Settings - Access Point section, select the Guest Network check box.
  14. Click Save.
  15. Click Apply.
Your settings are saved and applied immediately. The WiFi connection is reestablished. The page displays the number of seconds before the AirBridge is back online.
