You can configure your NETGEAR AirBridge as a satellite in a point-to-point and point-to-multipoint set up with an AirBridge master that is located at a main site. Before configuring your AirBridge satellite, you must first perform the initial configuration in the Day Zero Easy Setup page for your AirBridge master and AirBridge satellite. For more information, see How do I set up the initial login settings for my NETGEAR AirBridge?. After configuring in the Day Zero Easy Setup, you now can configure your AirBridge as a master. For more information, see How do I configure my NETGEAR AirBridge as a master using the local browser user interface?. After you have complete these steps, you are now ready to configure your AirBridge as a satellite.
- Launch a web browser on a computer that is connected to the same network as the AirBridge or connected directly to the AirBridge with an Ethernet cable.
Your AirBridge master but be disconnected from the network to avoid a network loop. For more information, see What do I need to know about network loops for my NETGEAR AirBridge.
- Enter the IP address that is assigned to the AirBridge satellite.
A login page displays.
- Enter the AirBridge satellite's username.
The username is admin.
- Enter the local device password.
This password is the one that you chose during the first time you logged in.
If you previously managed the AirBridge through the NETGEAR Insight app or Insight Cloud portal, enter the Insight network password for that location.
- In the Network field, select Wireless.
- From the Operation Mode menu, select AirBridge Satellite.
- Select the AirBridge Enable button.
By default, AirBridge mode is enabled. This is the setting that we recommend for a master-to satellite setup. Depending on your network situation, and your WiFi requirements, you can disable AirBridge mode. For more information, see When should I disable AirBridge mode?.
For information about optional advanced settings that display on the page, such as changing the Auto RF mode (so that you can set a specific transmission power), channel HT mode, channel, bit rate, and AP time slot, see your user manual.
- In the Distance field, enter the approximate distance in kilometers from the AirBridge master to the AirBridge satellite is at the detached site.
Enter the distance in km.
- In the Wireless Settings - 5 GHz section, select Edit.
The first time that you set up a satellite to connect to a master, the master must be offline to prevent a network loop. Therefore, you must enter the 5 GHz SSID back haul settings manually. For more information about manually configuring the 5 GHz SSID back haul settings, see your user manual.
- Click Save.
A pop-up window opens. The window shows the number of changes to be applied. You can make more changes or apply the changes now.
- To apply the changes now, click Apply.
Your settings are saved and applied immediately. The WiFi connection is reestablished. The page displays the number of seconds before the AirBridge is back online.
