When charging your LTE Mobile Router/Hotspot battery there are a number of things to keep in mind that can affect the charging of your device. The battery-charging algorithm in the NETGEAR Mobile routers and Hotspots monitors the charging of the device’s battery and can reduce the speed of charging if it senses that the device is getting too hot to safely charge.
Since the temperature of the device can affect the speed of charging and the device’s ability to charge the battery to 100%. Usage of some things/features can accelerate the heating up of your device and lead to your device not charging to 100%, for example:
- The ambient temperature of the environment device is in.
- High WWAN activity
- A high number of WiFi clients connected to the device
- USB media usage
- SD card usage
- Ethernet Port Usage
If you notice that the NETGEAR Mobile Hotspot or Router is charging slower or not charging its battery to 100%, please try the following suggestions:
- Ensure that your device is using the latest FW version
- Reduce the number of WiFi clients that are connecting to your device until the unit is charged
- Reduce/do not use SD card/USB media storage until your device is fully charged
- Reduce Ethernet port usage
- If possible reduce the WWAN data usage
