You might not be able to finish setting up your Nighthawk AX4 if your router is using firmware version 1.0.1.36. The Setup Wizard completes but your router is not able to get online.
Use the following instructions to download the latest firmware and fix this issue.
To download the latest Nighthawk AX4 firmware and run the Setup Wizard:
- If there is an Ethernet connection between the WAN port on your modem and the yellow Internet port on your router, disconnect the Ethernet cable.
- Using an Ethernet cable, connect your computer to one of the LAN ports on your modem.
- Visit https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RAX40.aspx#download and download the latest firmware.
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable that is connected to your modem and use it to connect your computer to one of the four LAN ports on the back of your router.
- Visit www.routerlogin.net.
You are prompted to start the Setup Wizard. - Select the radio button for "No, I want to configure the router myself."
- Follow the remaining instructions to complete the Setup Wizard.
A login window displays. - Log in with the admin credentials that you created in the Setup Wizard.
- Update your router’s firmware. For more information, see How do I manually upgrade firmware to my NETGEAR router?.
- Power cycle your network:
a) Unplug the power adapters for your modem and extender for 2 minutes.
b) Power on your modem and wait for the LEDs to stop blinking.
c) Power on your router.
d) Using an Ethernet cable, connect the WAN port of your modem to the yellow Internet port on the back of your router.
- Check if your router’s WiFi network is online.
- If your router is still offline, run the Setup Wizard again.
