Set up SNMP for Insight switches using the app

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) lets you monitor what happens on your network from a central location. To monitor your Insight switches using SNMP, you must enable SNMP and download the management information base (MIB) files for your switches. You must also know the SNMP community string that you are using with your Insight switches.

You only need to set up SNMP once for each Insight location that you want to monitor.

Insight offers read-only support for both SNMPv1 and SNMPv2, but does not support SNMPv3.

To set up SNMP for your Insight switches using the Insight mobile app:

  1. Launch the NETGEAR Insight app.
  2. If you are an Insight Pro user with access to more than one organization, select your organization.
  3. At the bottom, tap Locations.
  4. If you set up more than one network in Insight, at the top of the page, select the network.
  5. Select Wired Settings > SNMP.
  6. Tap Enable SNMP Trap.
  7. Enter the IP Address of the SNMP trap receiver, which is the device that receives monitoring information about your Insight switch.
  8. Enter the Community String and tap Save.Your settings are saved.
  9. On the device that is running your monitoring software, download the MIB files for your switches from the Downloads section of each switch's NETGEAR product support page.You can find your product support page by entering your model number on the NETGEAR Support site.
