New Features:

  • Support site-to-site (Network to Network) IPSec VPN. Both IKEv1 and IKEv2 are supported.
  • Remote tech support mode is added – Upon user’s permission, NETGEAR tech support team can remotely log in to the BR500 through a secure connection to perform diagnostics.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixes the issue where the BR500 might need to be manually rebooted in order for it to connect to the Insight Cloud after the firmware update. While this bug is fixed in this firmware, updating to this firmware version itself might result in the BR500 being disconnected from Insight Cloud one last time. Update to this firmware when you have local GUI or physical access to the BR500.
  • Fixes the issue where the VPN status display/report in Insight might display a good connection as broken.
  • Resolves the issue where the BR500 might need to reboot or rejoin a VPN group before connecting to an Insight VPN group.
  • Fixes the issue where the subnet conflict causes the Insight Site-to-Site VPN to not work properly. This firmware will automatically resolve subnet conflicts. Check and resolve any subnet conflicts before the BR500 joins a VPN group if you want to customize your network rather than accepting an automatic network change by Instant VPN.
  • Fixes the issue where the local GUI might report an invalid MAC address when a new VLAN is created.
  • Fixes the issue where the NAT loopback was blocked by firewall. This release allows the NAT loopback to go through the firewall.
  • Fixes the issue where the BR500 might lose configuration data after it reboots.

Known Issues:

  • The BR500 GUI cannot be reached through VPN, through a static route from a different subnet, or by LAN users from a VLAN other than the default management LAN (VLAN 1).
Workaround: Access the GUI from the BR500 default management LAN.
  • Disable, Enable, and Add IPSec policy briefly disconnects an established IPSec connection to apply the new routing table and firewall rules. Workaround: Change the IPSec policy only when a brief disconnect is acceptable.
  • After the firmware update, GUI access through the Firefox browser is slow. The root cause of this issue is that Firefox does not update the certificate properly. Workaround: Remove all old BR500 certificates:
    • Launch Firefox.
    • Select Options > Privacy & Security.
    • Scroll down to the Security section.
    • Click the View Certificates button.
    • Delete all certificates named www.routerlogin.net.
