Set Up Air Time Fairness
When your network has both up-to-date and legacy clients, or when connected devices are far enough away from your access point to slow the connection, the slowest connection on your network slows down the other devices' performance. For better Wi-Fi performance, turn on Air Time Fairness to distribute 80% of your network bandwidth equally across up to 50 wireless devices.

If your WiFi has more than 50 clients connected to it, the remaining clients must share the remaining 20% of your bandwidth not allocated to any devices.

Air Time Fairness cannot be activated through Insight, but you can activate it with your wireless access point still in NETGEAR Insight mode.

To turn on Air Time Fairness:

  1. On a computer that connected to your wireless access point with an Ethernet cable or on the same subnet, open a web broswer, like Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari.
  2. Enteryour wireless access point's IP address in the address bar of your browser and press Enter.The default IP address for your WAC540 is 192.168.0.100.
  3. Sign in with your user name and password.The default user name is admin. The default password is password. If you added this device to an Insight location, use the admin password for the location.
  4. Select Management > Wireless > Advanced.
  5. At the top, select Air Time Fairness.
  6. Select Enable.
  7. Click the Apply button.
