Back Up and Restore Device Settings Using the Insight App

You can back up the settings of your devices on the Insight cloud. This lets you restore that settings you know worked before, or save a copy to upload onto another device later. You can have up to three backups per device at a time.

When you restore backed-up device settings, you restore all device-specific configuration settings. This does not include wireless or VLAN settings. For more information about backing up network-level settings, see How do you back up your location settings using the Insight Cloud Portal?.

To back up or restore the settings of your device using the Cloud Portal:

  1. Open the Insight app.
  2. If you are an Insight Pro user with access to more than one organization, select your organization.
  3. If you set up more than one location, select your location.
  4. Tap the device that you want to back up or restore.
  5. Tap Diagnostics.
  6. Tap Configuration Backup & Restore.
    • To create a new backup, tap the Create backup or + buttons. Give the new backup a name and description and click the Create Backup Now button.
    • To restore device settings from, edit, or delete a backup, drag the backup you want left and click the button for the function that you want to perform.
