Before continuing, download and install the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility from NETGEAR Support.

The most recent firmware for your GS105Ev2 or GS105PE Smart Managed Plus Switch can display its user interface in multiple languages, like English, German, or Japanese. You can change the display language at any time.

To change your user interface language:

  1. Connect your computer to the same network as the switch. You can use a WiFi or wired network connection, or connect directly to a switch that is off-network using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility.
  3. In the Network tab, select your switch.If you do not see the switch, make sure it's plugged in and click the Refresh button.
  4. If the switch displays an IP address of o.o.o.o:
    1. Click the IP Setting button.
    2. For DHCP Setting, select Disable, then Enable.A new IP Address displays.
    3. Click the Cancel button.
    4. Click the X button.
  5. Click the Apply button.
  6. Enter the switch’s password in the password field.The switch's default password is password.The System tab displays.
  7. Select Switch Information.
  8. Next to Firmware Version, if you see 1.6.0.3 or higher, skip to Step 20.
  9. Visit NETGEAR Support in your web browser.
  10. (Optional) In the top right, select your preferred language from the drop-down menu.
  11. Start typing your model number in the search box, then select your model from the drop-down menu as soon as it appears.

    If you do not see a drop-down menu, make sure that you entered your model number correctly, or select a product category to browse for your product model.

  12. Click the Downloads button.
  13. Under Current Versions, select the download whose title begins with Firmware Version and click the Download button.
  14. Read the firmware release notes.
  15. If the firmware download is zipped, unzip the downloaded file to extract the switch firmware image.
  16. Return to the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility.
  17. In your switch's System tab, select Maintenance>Firmware Upgrade.
  18. Click the BROWSE button.
  19. Select the firmware file and click the APPLY button.

    When the update is complete, your switch restarts. The process typically takes about three minutes.

    To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the network connection or power to the switch during this process. Do not disconnect any Ethernet cables or power off the switch until the process is complete.

  20. In your web browser, visit the IP address displayed for your Switch.
  21. Enter the switch’s password in the password field.The switch's default password is password.
  22. In the top right, select the appropriate language from the drop-down menu. The default language is English.
  23. Click YES in the dialog box to confirm that you want to change the user interface language.The user interface changes to the language that you selected.
