New features and enhancements
- 10G SFP port fails to link up after device is rebooted.
- Fixed the problem where device may crash occasionally with the following task bcmATP-RX, unitMgrTask or spmTask, shown in the debugging log.
Known issues
- SFP+ model AXM765 cannot be used as 10G stacking. [Workaround]: Use other SFP+ models AXM761, AXM762, AXM763 or DAC cable AXC761/AXC763 instead.
- RPS/AC hot swap sometimes (quickly unplug/plug) does not take effect after plug back APS1000W power cord. [Workaround]: re-plug the APS1000W power cord slowly.
- Console hang happens in S3300 device, if we press the reset button repeatedly during reload. [Workaround]: Power cycle the switch. Customer needs to be cautious not to press reset button multiple times during boot stage.
Notes
- The released zip contains switch firmware (s3300v6.6.4.9.stk) and MIB files. Please unzip the file to extract the switch image for firmware upgrade.
- Please do download v6.6.4.9 to both active and inactive (backup) images when upgrading from v6.4.0.x firmware.
- Please clear the browser’s cache to login the switch via Web GUI after upgrading firmware to v6.6.4.9 from v6.4.0.x, v6.6.0.x, or v6.6.1.x firmware.
- Please find detailed description on the S3300 User Manual of firmware 6.6.4.x. specifically, section "Smart M4300/S3300 Firmware Upgrade Procedure" (page 356~359 of the user manual) describes the detailed procedures regarding building mix-stack system between S3300 and M4300 with 6.6.4.x firmware.
Limitations
- EAV (Ethernet Audio Video) feature only supported on a standalone S3300 switch. Standalone here means that all four 10G stacking ports are running in Ethernet mode.
- Only the smart switch that functions as the master unit (either standalone switch or master switch in a stack) can detect and manage an attached USB device.
- The USB device must support USB 2.0.
- The USB device must support the FAT32 or VFAT file type. The NTFS file type is not supported.
Upgrade Procedure
- Download the new firmware 6.6.4.9 from NETGEAR product support Website and store it in local PC, and remember its location in the PC’s file system. Then unzip it to get the switch image “s3300v6.6.4.9.stk”.

There are four methods to upgrade the new firmware from PC to the switch.
1)HTTP
2)TFTP
3)USB
4)SCC (Smart Control Center)
Below are the steps to upgrade the firmware via HTTP, which is the most convenient method. For the other three methods, please check the IG and SW User Manual for details. -
To use HTTP method, go to GUI page “Maintenance > Download > HTTP File Download”, set File Type as ‘Archive’, set Image Name as ‘Image1’, select the firmware file ‘s3300v6.6.4.9.stk’ stored in local PC via Browser button, then click Apply button to start firmware downloading.
The download will take several minutes. Do not power cycle the switch before and the success message shows up as below.
- Repeat step3, via setting ‘Image Name’ to ‘image2’, to downloading the switch image “s3300v6.6.4.9.stk” to image2.

Go to GUI page “Maintenance > File Management > Dual Image > Dual Image Status’, to double check 6.6.4.9 is correctly downloaded to both image1 and image2. If not, go back to step 3 and 4 to download the switch image again.

Go to GUI page 'Maintenance > Reset > Device Reboot', set 'Reboot Unit No.' as 'All' (default option); check the checkbox then click Apply button.
The restart may take several minutes, do not power cycle or reboot the switch before the process is complete. -
After the switch is restarted, login the switch to double check whether the FW is upgraded correctly, via GUI page of "GUI page System > Management > System Information".
