You might need to update your switch’s firmware before you can change the language in your switch’s user interface.
To change your user interface to Japanese or German on your Nighthawk switch:
- Open a web browser from a computer that is connected to the same network as the switch or is connected to the switch directly through an Ethernet cable.
- Enter the IP address that is assigned to the switch.
If you do not know your switch’s IP address, you can also use the NETGEAR Switch Discovery Tool to open your switch’s web browser-based user interface. - Enter the switch password.
The default password is password. - On your switch’s home page, click the down arrow next to System Info to expand that section.
- If you see a Language drop-down menu, skip to Step 17.
If you do not see a Language menu, you must update your firmware. Continue to Step 6. - From the menu at the top of the page, select SETTINGS or ADVANCED SETTINGS.
The PRESET MODES page displays. - Select FIRMWARE.
The page displays the current firmware of the switch. - To check if new firmware is available, click the netgear.com link in the FIRMWARE section.
Your product’s support page opens. - Click Downloads.
- If a firmware version with a number higher than your current firmware is available, download the firmware file to your computer.
If your firmware is up to date, skip to Step 14. - Unzip the file to extract the firmware.
- In the FIRMWARE UPDATE section of the switch management interface, click the purple file icon, navigate to the firmware file that you just downloaded, and select the file.
- Click the UPLOAD or UPDATE button.
A pop-up window displays a warning and the firmware update process starts.
Do not interrupt the network connection or power to the switch during the firmware update process. Do not disconnect any Ethernet cables or power off the switch until the firmware update process and switch reboot are complete.
- After the firmware update process completes, reload the web page to access your switch’s browser interface again.
- Log in again using the same password.
- On your switch’s home page, click the down arrow next to System Info to expand that section.
- From the Language drop-down menu, select the language that you want to change your switch’s user interface to.
- Click Apply.
- In the confirmation dialog box, click Continue.
Your switch’s user interface changes to the language that you selected.
