NETGEAR Armor protects you against a wide variety of common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs):

  • SQL injection: Allows attackers to imitate identities, tamper with existing data, cause repudiation issues such as voiding transactions or changing balances, completely disclose all data on the system, destroy the data or make it otherwise unavailable, and become administrators of the database server.
  • Denial of service (DoS) and Distributed denial of service (DDoS):  Allows attackers to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users. For example, they can temporarily or indefinitely interrupt or suspend services of a host.
  • Code execution: Allows an attacker to completely take over a system.
  • Directory traversal: Allows attackers to access a file that is not intended to be accessible.
  • HTTP response splitting: Allows attackers to manipulate HTTP request bodies and bypass input validation.
  • Brute force: Gains access to restricted information by guessing login credentials, often using common or default passwords. For example, a hacker tries to gain access to the video feed of an IP camera by repeatedly entering different passwords from a list of common or default passwords.
  • Unencrypted sensitive data transfer: Allows an attacker to view sensitive information, such as banking details, in plain text.

Some of these types of vulnerability protection are not supported by some legacy NETGEAR products. For more information, see Which Armor features are not supported by some legacy NETGEAR devices?.
