The following port cards are compatible with your M4300-96X switch:
- APM408C. Provides eight 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10GBASE-T ports
- APM408P. Provides eight 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10GBASE-T PoE+ ports
- APM408F. Provides eight 1G/10GBASE-X SFP+ ports that support 1G and 10G transceiver modules (GBICs) or direct-attach cables (DACs)
- APM402XL. Provides two fiber 40GBASE ports that support QSFP+ modules or 40G direct-attach cables (DACs)
Port cards are hot-swappable.
To install a port card in your M4300-96X switch:
- Locate an unused slot.
In the M4300-96X switch, slots 1–6 support PoE/PoE+. You can install an APM408P port card in any slot, but the port card can provide PoE power only when it is installed in slots 1–6. - Pull down the handle on the port card.
- Insert the port card into the slot, and gently push the port card into the slot.
CAUTION: When inserting the port card, do not use unnecessary force. Doing so can damage the connectors on the back of the port card.
- To secure the port card in the switch, lift the handle to the top of the port card.
After you connect the ports in your port cards, compare the port LED behavior to the behaviors in the following list.
LED Behaviors
Multi-Gigabit and 10GBASE-T
• Solid green. A 10 Gbps link without PoE is established.
• Blinking green. 10 Gbps traffic is occurring without PoE.
• Solid yellow. A 100 Mbps, 1000 Mbps, 2.5 Gbps, or 5 Gbps link without PoE is established.
• Blinking yellow. 100 Mbps, 1000 Mbps, 2.5 Gbps, or 5 Gbps traffic without PoE is occurring.
• Solid blue. A 10 Gbps link with PoE is established.
• Blinking blue. 10 Gbps traffic with PoE is occurring.
• Solid purple. A 100 Mbps, 1000 Mbps, 2.5 Gbps, or 5 Gbps link with PoE is established.
• Blinking purple. 100 Mbps, 1000 Mbps, 2.5 Gbps, or 5 Gbps traffic with PoE traffic is occurring.
• Solid light blue. The port is delivering PoE. No Ethernet link is established.
• Off. No link is established and no PoE power is being delivered.
SFP/SFP+
• Solid green. A 10 Gbps SFP+ module link is established.
• Blinking green. 10 Gbps traffic is occurring.
• Solid yellow. A 1000 Mbps SFP module link is established.
• Blinking yellow. 1000 Mbps traffic is occurring.
• Off. No SFP+ module link is established.
QSFP+
• Solid green. A 40 Gbps QSFP+ module link is established.
• Blinking green. 40 Gbps traffic is occurring.
• Off. No QSFP+ module link is established.
