You may be requested by NETGEAR to enable Secure Diagnostics Mode (SDM) on your ReadyNAS OS 6 storage server. SDM creates a secure connection to NETGEAR Support for means of troubleshooting, bug investigation, and issue resolution while your ReadyNAS remains accessible on your local area network.
Your ReadyNAS will require Internet access and be able to communicate to the Internet using outbound port 443 in order to use SDM. SDM does not utilize any UPnP or NAT-PMP maneuvers to open ports on your firewall.
If downtime is required to resolve an issue, your Support Expert will inform you of such before any changes are made.
SDM does not persist reboot. If you reboot your system after enabling, but before disabling, SDM, NETGEAR's connection using SDM will be severed.
By enabling Secure Diagnostics Mode, you agree to the NETGEAR Remote Access Policy.
You can also enable SDM using RAIDar or Insight.
