Before you begin, you must be in Flex-RAID (not X-RAID) to add a metadata tier.
- Insert the SSDs that you plan to use for your metadata tier(s) into your ReadyNAS system.
- Afterwards, navigate to the ReadyNAS Admin Page.
- Go to the Volumes screen.
- In the Volumes screen, select the minimum number of required SSDs and click Add tier on the volume you wish to add metadata tiering to.
A popup dialog appears. - In the popup dialog, you can confirm if you want to continue or cancel. To continue, click Apply.
- Once you click Apply, the ReadyNAS will balance the volume to accommodate your tiering request. Metadata will be balanced to your new SSD tier.
