Set up Smart Connect with Milestone Arcus on ReadyNAS
- Login to the Milestone Arcus for ReadyNAS software.
- Click Settings > Smart connect.
- Under Port Forwarding, you can enable Automatic port forwarding if UPnP is enabled on your home router, or you can configure the External address if you do not have UPnP enabled.
- See your router's manual for further details on checking and enabling UPnP. Note that some routers from common service providers may not allow this setting to be modified.
- If you enable Automatic port forwarding, your externally accessible IP address and port number populate the External address textbox.
- If you do not have the option for Automatic port forwarding, you will need to know your WAN IP address and you will need to forward a port on your firewall to the ReadyNAS running Milestone Arcus. For example, if your WAN IP address is 90.91.92.93 and you forward port 8081 to the ReadyNAS, then you would enter 90.91.92.32:8081 in the External address (manual) field.
Note: The external port you designate can be any value, as long as the port number forwarded on the firewall is destined for port 8081.
- Click Test connection to confirm whether Milestone servers can reach your ReadyNAS remotely.
- If the test is not successful, check your firewall and network configuration again.
- If the test is successful, proceed.
