WAC510 Firmware Version 1.3.0.10

Note: Please check “Upgrade rules” and “Limitations” section before upgrading.

New Features /Enhancements:

• Router Mode
  1. IP Setting page to configure Static / DHCP Client IP address
  2. Inter-Vlan Routing enable / disable status.
• More channels are available to configure for JAPAN country.
• More channels are available to configure for AUSTRALIA country.

Bug Fixes:

• Fixed issues related to AUTO channel scanning during Day zero configuration which improves user experience while managing the AP through Insight Manager App and when accessing AP GUI from wireless client through web browser.
• Fixed issues while adding wireless station MAC address under the trusted stations list in MAC ACL configuration page.
• Fixed security vulnerability issue related to Firmware Upgrade over HTTP and TFTP.
• Fixed issues related to user account password length as minimum 6 to maximum 20 characters.

Known Issues:

1. When saving the logs in IE11 Browser, the log file opens within the browser window instead of asking to save the logs to a file.
   Workaround: Press CTRL + S to save logs to a file and click browser “Back” button to go back to the AP’s log page.
2. Changing the gateway IP address of default and additional DHCP server is not recommended
3. Default and custom CP image not loaded when the management VLAN ID is configured in AP and Router mode.
   Workaround: Reboot required when the management VLAN ID is configured.
4. HTTPS captive portal redirection doesn’t work for clients using Mozilla Firefox.
   Workaround: Clients must use Chrome, IE11, Edge, or Safari browser
5. Intermittently IP address details for the associated Wireless clients are not displayed under the Monitoring -> Wireless Client page.
   Workaround: To allow the IP address of the clients to be displayed, ping the Access Point’s IP address from the client, or log into the AP’s Web UI from the client.
6. Sometimes the hostname details of the wireless clients (Chrome OS based) associated to the AP is not displayed under the Monitoring -> Wireless Client page.
7. APPLY, CANCEL, Captive portal PREVIEW button goes to greyed out intermittently while doing any configuration across different configuration pages.
   Workaround:The user need to refresh the browser or do select/deselect or Edit any other parameters.
8. The AP’s Web GUI does not display some visual aspects properly on mobile devices (phones, tablets).
9. Multiple selection of available wireless clients to add under the MAC ACL list has issues.
   Workaround: Wireless clients can be added individually to the MAC ACL list.

Operational Notes:

1. After upgrading the Firmware through the AP Web GUI, you must clear the browser cache before accessing AP GUI again which has new GUI improvements.
2. After factory defaults, WW SKU AP has default country as GERMANY and NA SKU AP has default country as CANADA to comply with regulatory requirements. It is highly recommended to configure the country in which AP is operating to adhere to corresponding country’s regulations.
3. AP can be well managed through Insight Manager App V2.53 through iOS and Android OS. Refer release notes while downloading the App from google play store for Android and Apple store for iOS. It is always recommended to upgrade to latest IM app version with latest AP Firmware to manage.
4. In factory defaults, the AP will act as a DHCP client to obtain its IP address from DHCP server.
5. When AP cannot get DHCP client IP address from network DHCP server, the AP can be accessed using the fall back default IP address as 192.168.0.100
6. Wireless client can connect to an AP which is in factory default by connecting to the default SSID printed on the product label on the bottom of the AP. The SSID is “NETGEARXXXXXX-SETUP” where XXXXXX = Last 6 digit of MAC address. The default SSID password is “sharedsecret”.
7. Internet access is allowed from the wireless stations when connected to the default SSID and password (SSID: NETGEARXXXXXX-SETUP”, Password: “sharedsecret”) in Day zero mode
8. AP can be accessed using “aplogin.net” only in Day Zero mode from the wireless / wired clients which help at situation where the AP’s IPaddress is not known.
9. When configuring DFS channel manually AP goes for radar scan period for 1 minute or 10minutes (If channel 120, 124, 128 is selected). AP will not broadcast beacons during the radar scan period so that wireless clients will be able to connect to the SSID configured in AP.
10. The WAC510 has two modes of operation: AP mode and Router mode. In Router mode the AP will acts as a DHCP server, provide NAT and other basic Router/gateway functions. In AP mode, the Access Point operates in Layer 2 bridge mode.
11. AP’s operating mode (Router mode or AP mode) depends on the AP mode configuration in the backed up config file after restoring it on the AP irrespective of whether AP operates in router or AP mode.
12. The AP can be returned to factory default using the reset button on the side of the AP bottom cover by pressing and holding the button for ~10 secs (Power LED will change from Green to blinking Amber).
13. Changing the WDS configuration will initiate AP to reboot automatically after applying settings.
14. The Web GUI session timeout is 45 minutes.
15. In the following scenarios, the AP is expected to reboot automatically for the configuration to take effect:
    1. Firmware upgrade
    2. Reset factory defaults
    3. Restore configuration
    4. Country change in Day Zero and Day One configuration Wizard

Upgrade Rules:

            For AP mode:

• If fresh out-of-factory AP, recommend to upgrade to latest FW available in the Web and do factory defaults to freshly configure the AP and deploy in production network.
• If AP operating in AP mode with FW V1.2.5.12 or lower version, upgrade to latest FW

            For Router mode:

• If fresh out-of-factory AP, recommend to upgrade to latest FW available in the Web and do factory defaults to freshly configure the AP in router mode and deploy in production network.
• If AP operating in router mode with FW V1.2.5.12 or lower version, make sure to have default management VLAN ID (1) and default VLAN ID for first DHCP server settings before upgrading to the latest FW

Firmware Upgrade Procedure:

• Using the Download Link below, download and extract the new firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop. The Firmware File name after extracting is WAC510_V1.3.0.10_firmware.tar

• IE10 and lower versions are not supported.
• Backup configuration done on FW version below V1.2.0.12 FW will not be restored on FW version V1.2.0.12 and above versions only through IE11 browser.
