NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls is NETGEAR's current parental controls solution, offering a number of ways to manage your children’s online activity and promote good online habits for the family. If you recently purchased a NETGEAR device, it might support Smart Parental Controls instead of Circle. For more information, see the Smart Parental Controls product page.
To enable Circle Smart Parental Controls and update the firmware on your NETGEAR or Orbi router using the Circle app:
- Launch the Circle app.
- Tap the GET STARTED button.
- Make sure you are connected to your router’s network and tap NEXT.
The Circle app checks to make sure that your router supports Circle. - Tap the ENABLE CIRCLE button.
- Enter your router’s admin login credentials and tap the LOGIN button.
- If your router isn’t running the latest firmware, tap the YES PLEASE! button to update the firmware.
The firmware updates and the app enables Circle. - Tap LET’S GO! > GREAT!.
The Account Details page displays. - Complete the fields on the Account Details page and tap the CONTINUE button.
The Add Phone Number page displays. - Enter your cell phone number and tap the SEND CODE button.
- Enter the code that was sent to your cell phone.
The Circle app verifies the code. - Tap the AWESOME! button.
- Select a subscription plan and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your preferences.
Circle Smart Parental Controls is enabled on your NETGEAR or Orbi router.
