The configuration outlined in this article is applicable to firmware version 3.7.10.0 and above. If a wireless schedule configuration exists on your access point and was configured in firmware version 3.6.12.0 or lower, note that upgrading the firmware to version 3.7.10.0 or higher will reset the wireless schedule configuration to default.
The wireless scheduling feature enables you to turn the access point radios off at specific times, which can be useful during scheduled vacations, office shutdowns, on evenings, or on weekends. The schedule is configurable per radio, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and once applied it applies to all Wi-Fi networks that broadcast on that radio. If you do not wish to schedule the wireless per radio and impact all SSID's on a radio, you can schedule the wireless per SSID.
Wireless Schedule per radio.
1. To enable the wireless schedule login to your access points admin page and navigate to Configuration > Wireless > Basic > Wireless Scheduling.
2. Select the Enable radio button.
3. The Wireless Scheduling Type defines on which days the schedule is active with the start and end time defined by moving the circles on the Radio On & Off Time bar. The circle to the left is the begin time, the circle to the right is the end time:
- Everyday: The schedule is applied every day, Monday through Sunday.
- Weekdays: The schedule is applied Monday to Friday.
- Weekend: The schedule is applied Saturday and Sunday.
- Custom: An independent schedule can be configured per day.
The Wireless Scheduling Type and Radio On & Off Time bar are used to define times when the wireless radio is turned ON when wireless scheduling is enabled. The wireless schedule only applies on days that are configured in wireless scheduling type. On days not included in the wireless scheduling type, the wireless radio will be ON. By default the Radio On & Off Time bar schedule enables the radio to be active from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm (18:30).
4. Click Apply.
In this example the 2.4 GHz radio (802.11 bg/ng/bgn) is using a custom schedule. The wireless radio is enabled from 8AM to 5:30PM Monday to Thursday, on Friday it is enabled from 8AM to 1PM.
The 5 GHz radio (802.11 a/a-na-ac) is enabled everyday (Monday through Sunday) from 7AM to 6:40PM.
Wireless Schedule per SSID.
The wireless schedule cannot be configured on the default profile (SSID).
If the wireless schedule is active and the wireless radio is turned OFF, the wireless schedule per SSID is over written by the wireless schedule set in Configuration > Wireless > Basic > Wireless Scheduling.
1. Go to Configuration > Security > Profile Settings.
2. First, enable the security profile by selecting the Enable check box for the Profile Name you wish to apply the wireless schedule to, then click Apply.
3. To edit the security profile, select its radio button and click Edit.
4. Set Wireless Scheduling to Enable.
