Your WAC510 access point has a Check for Upgrade button which queries, downloads and upgrades new versions of firmware onto your access point, making it easier to upgrade and stay up to date. Only use this feature ifyou are managing your WAC510 in standalone mode. If you are managing your WAC510 with the Insight app, follow this procedure instead: How do I update device firmware in the Insight app?.
The Check for Upgrade feature will only work if the access point has a connection to the Internet, otherwsie it will fail to find any updates. For the access point to connect to the Internet its IP settings, including default gateway and DNS server, must be configured correctly. They are configured in Management - Configuration - IP - LAN.
Before using this feature and performing a firmware upgrade on your access point we recommend you first read the release notes for the new firmware, which will be found on the WAC510 product support page.
When upgrading the firmware on your access point it will force a reboot, this will temporarily disconnect all connected wireless clients until the access point completes the reboot.
The Check for Upgrade button is found in two sections of the web interface.
In the Dashboard
The Check for Update button is available on the Dashboard. From the menu go to Dashboard.
1. Click Check for Upgrade.
If a newer version of firmware is found, the button changes to Update Available, and the new version number is displayed to the right of the button.

2. Click Update Available.
When prompted Are you sure you want to Upgrade?, click Upgrade to proceed.
The firmware begins to download and a progress of the download is displayed.
Once the download completes, the access point will begin the upgrade and displays the progress until completed. When prompted Upgraded Successfull, click OK to complete. The access point will now reboot.
To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the upgrade. For example, do not close the browser, click a link, or load a new page. Do not turn off the access point. Wait until the access point finishes restarting and the Power LED turns solid green.
