You can reset your Nighthawk switch to factory default settings in two ways: using the Reset button and using the web management interface. If you do not know your switch’s IP address and password, you must use the Reset button to reset your switch.
To reset your Nighthawk switch using the Reset button:
This process erases all settings that you configured on the switch. You must set up the switch again if you want to keep using it on your network.
- Using a straightened paperclip, press and hold the Reset button on the bottom of your Nighthawk Switch for two to three seconds, then release it.
- Wait several minutes for the switch to reset to factory default settings and finish rebooting.
The switch is done rebooting when the blue Power LED lights again.
To avoid corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the reset process. For example, do not turn on or try to use a device that is connected to the switch. Do not turn off the switch.
To reset your Nighthawk switch using the web management interface:
This process erases all settings that you configured on the switch. You must set up the switch again if you want to keep using it on your network.
- Open a web browser from a computer that is connected to the same network as the switch or to the switch directly through an Ethernet cable.
- Enter the IP address that is assigned to the switch.
The login page opens. - Enter the switch password.
- From the menu at the top of the page, select ADVANCED SETTINGS.
- Select Factory Default.
- Click RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS.
A warning pop-up window opens. - Click CONTINUE.
The switch is reset to factory default settings and reboots.
To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the reset process. For example, do not close the browser, click a link, or load a new page. Do not turn off the switch. Wait until the switch finishes rebooting and the blue Power LED on top of the switch lights.
