In order for two ReadyNAS to communicate with ReadyDR, a key exchange must take place between the ReadyNAS with the source data and the ReadyNAS that will be the destination system. ReadyDR has two ways to exchange keys: automatically and manually. Once you have exchanged keys with a system, you do not need to re-process the key exchange unless access to that system has been revoked from the Access List.
From the Admin Page, click the Backup tab. If ReadyDR is turned off, toggle it on.
Automatic Key Exchange
Automatic key exchange takes place when during the Add ReadyDR Job wizard. The source ReadyNAS must have access to both the Admin Page (over port 443) and the ReadyDR service port number (e.g., port 5253).
- Click Add ReadyDR Job
- Enter the remote Host details.
- Click Browse next to ReadyDR Share.
A new window shows up with a login dialog appears asking for the credentials of an admin account on the remote ReadyNAS. - Enter the username and password, then click Connect.
- If successful, the ReadyNAS will have exchanged keys.
The Select ReadyDR Share window will allow you to create a new ReadyDR share or select an existing ReadyDR share.
Manual Key Exchange
Source Unit:
- Click Access List.
- Click Download key file.
A public key file is downloaded in the format: public_readydr_key-{hostname}.txt
Destination Unit:
- From the destination ReadyNAS's Admin Page, click the Backup tab.
- If ReadyDR is turned off, toggle it on.
- Click Access List.
- Click Import Public Key.
- Browse to the downloaded file, then click Upload.
