If your ReadyNAS supports bonding (also referred to as teaming), you can choose from seven teaming modes.
Which mode should you choose? The answer depends on the type of switch/router to which you are connecting your ReadyNAS.
- If you are connecting your ReadyNAS to a managed switch that supports IEEE802.3ad LACP, then NETGEAR recommends that you use teaming mode IEEE802.3ad LACP.
- If you are connecting your ReadyNAS to a managed switch that only supports static LAG, then NETGEAR recommends that you use teaming mode XOR.
- If you are connecting your ReadyNAS to an unmanaged switch (or to a broadband router), then NETGEAR recommends that you use teaming mode Active Backup.
Other available teaming modes such as those listed below do not work well in most situations. They are offered for advanced users to implement only in very specific configurations.
- Transmit Load Balancing
- Adaptive Load Balancing
- Round-Robin
- Broadcast
