If you need to recover the administrator password for your ReadyNAS OS 6 storage system, you can perform an OS reinstall reboot on the storage system. An OS reinstall reboot resets the administrator user name and password of your ReadyNAS system to the factory defaults without erasing any of your data.
The default credentials to log in to the local admin page are:
- Username: admin
- Password: password
Note: Both user name and password are case-sensitive.
To perform an OS reinstall reboot:
- Access the boot menu of your ReadyNAS. The method to access the boot menu varies depending on the type of ReadyNAS you have. If you aren't sure how to access the boot menu of your ReadyNAS, visit ReadyNAS & ReadyDATA: Boot Menu
- After you are at the boot menu of your ReadyNAS, choose the OS reinstall option.
WARNING: Be careful to choose only the OS reinstall option, because other options can cause data loss.
